GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Grants Pass streets will lose some art as the city decides to focus on safety.
Until now, the city has allowed fire hydrants to be painted by local artists. This week they will be repainted the standard bright yellow to increase visibility during an emergency.
A team went out Wednesday morning to paint all the downtown hydrants. Maintenance was also done which included lubricating the threads with a food grade lubricant, since the hydrants are connected to the city’s drinking water supply.
