GRANTS PASS, Ore. – A Grants Pass man, who saved a woman from a burning building, was honored for his heroic efforts. Daron Dawson received the Public Safety Honor Citation on Monday morning.
“I have trouble taking credit for it, but I am glad that I can do that. It was nice to see her, in particular, outside of a smoking building; it was nice to see her this day,” Dawson said.
Just a month ago, Dawson spotted smoke coming from the Bryn Court neighborhood, and after further examination, he found the home of 89-year-old Martha Tankersley filled with smoke. He went through the front door, found the woman and carried her out to safety.
