GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Food trucks in Grants Pass might be on the move sometime soon. The city council will discuss what can be done about to make things fair to both the mobile vendors and downtown business owners.
One of the main complaints is that the food trucks don’t pay the property taxes or other fees that the businesses they park in front of have to pay. City council member Darin Fowler says there a few main solutions: keep them out altogether, keep them in a public parking lot or change the amount of time they can park in one spot.
“It’s probably going to be a hybrid of some of those options it may be narrowed to one. We’re just having the discussion tonight and the decision will be made in September,” says Fowler.
Local businesses are also complaining that the trucks block visibility from the street and take up valuable parking spaces.
