GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Rogue Coffee Roasters took home the Grand Champion award among others this past Saturday after competing at the Oregon State Fair in Salem.
The business entered 30 roasters into the competition to compete in three categories, Signature Blend, Single-Varietal and Espresso. The coffee with the best overall score would receive the Grand Champion award.
In addition to bringing home Grand Champion, Rogue Roasters also got the gold in the Espresso category, and silver in the Single-Varietal category.
This was the first year owner Jeremy Terwilliger was invited to compete.
“I kinda went up there with no expectations and as the awards kinda started rolling out, I was completely taken back,” Terwilliger commented. “I had no idea the judges feel as we felt here about our coffee.”
He hopes this honor will help to expand his coffee business further for wholesale distribution to restaurants and other coffee shops.
“Winning this competition has kinda given fuel to our fire,” he added. “We’ve always believed in our coffee and that it was good, and like I’ve said being recognized on a state level has kind of bolstered our, I guess our inspiration to grow our company further.”
