Governor Orders Flags at Half-Staff

8-6 jbo web imageSALEM, Ore. — In honor of the young firefighter who died in our area this week, flags will be flown at half-staff across Oregon on Saturday.

Governor Kitzhaber ordered all public institutions to participate, after 19-year-old Jesse Trader rolled his truck down an embankment on the way back from the Big Windy Complex on Tuesday morning.

Kitzhaber says he “urges all Oregonians to take a moment to remember Jesse, his dedication to public safety, and his sacrifice.”

On Saturday, a funeral service will also be held at West Albany High School at 10 a.m. The service is open to the public, but the family is asking that no pictures be taken.

thoughts and prayers with family during this tough time. Jesse gave his life for his country and those of us that live in this area thank God for the firefighters that protect us and our forests. Thank you kdrv for letting us know about this. I wish we could hear it on local news instead of all the floods in middle of country and hurricanes on east coast. I really feel that the west coast is left out of the picture like no one else in the country even know we are burning.
