Governor Declares Drought Emergency

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Governor Kitzhaber has declared a state drought emergency in Klamath County.

In response to a request from Klamath County made on Tuesday afternoon, Governor Kitzhaber issued an Executive Order declaring a state of drought emergency. This declaration provides the state with additional water management tools to assist irrigators, municipalities and other water users.

Latest surveys show snowpack in the Klamath Basin is about 67 percent of normal. Reservoirs are about 72 percent of average and 48 percent of capacity.
