MEDFORD, Ore. — Close to a dozen GMO free supporters gathered in front of the Jackson County election office Tuesday afternoon to warn people about the outside spending against ballot measure 15-119.

If passed, this ballot measure would make Jackson County the only GMO free county in Oregon.

Last week, out-of-state chemical giants including Monsanto, Syngenta, DuPont, Dow and others dropped over $450,000 into the piggy bank of Good Neighbors Farmers, the political action committee opposing measure 15-119.   This brings their total contributions up to $812,910.

The two political action committees supporting the measure only have $205,917 in contributions so far, but family farms coalition said they think their smaller bank account is going to help call people to action.

The Coalition hoped their news conference on Tuesday raised awareness and prepared voters for the “unpredictable tidal wave” of campaign materials and advertisements set to hit the public in the near future, opposing the GMO free ballot measure.
