MEDFORD, Ore. — The pre-teen years can be especially tough for girls, so the Grants Pass Soroptimist club has created an all-day event just for them.
Girls Rock is a program put on for pre-teen girls aimed at building self-esteem and confidence.
The program offered five different workshops ranging from self-defense to ancient papermaking as well as dance, modeling and engineering.
Girls Rock has been going on for six years now, and each year different workshops are brought in.
“We don’t want them to get boring so we don’t want to repeat the same ones all the time so we’re always looking for new exciting events,” said Beth Williams, Girls Rock Coordinator.
The program is offered to pre-teen girls ages nine through 13 along with a parent or other adult.
This year Girls Rock saw record attendance numbers with more than 100 girls participating.
