Galice Fire Burns North of Grants Pass

Galice ThreeNEAR GRANTS PASS, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Forestry crews are close to cleanup on the Stratton Creek Fire near Galice.

Officials say the fire engulfed a total of 175 acres. Eight 20-person crews and two helicopters are still on scene taking care of the fire.

As of late Friday afternoon ODF reported the main portion as contained. There are six small hot spots keeping crews busy on the southeast end of Stratton Creak Ridge.

Firefighters say they’re experiencing very calm winds, about three to five miles per hour. So, with no expected changes in winds, officials hope to make enough progress to mop up Friday night.
