Forest Fire Update for August 17, 2013

Information below provided by the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Douglas Complex

The Douglas Complex is now 72 percent contained and has burned 46,932 acres to date. The complex is approximately seven miles north of Glendale in Douglas and Josephine counties on a mix of BLM and private forestlands protected by the Douglas Forest Protective Association.

Big Windy Complex

The Big Windy Complex, eight miles northwest of Galice is now 16,496 acres. Containment is now at 20 percent. A community meeting will be held at the Galice Community Hall, located at 10821 Galice Road, at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013. Members of Pacific Northwest Team 3 will provide an overview of the fire and discuss planned actions. Local agency representatives will also be present. The public is invited to attend.

The Labrador Fire on the Rogue Siskiyou National Forest is holding at 2,023 acres and zero percent contained.

The Whiskey Complex, six miles east of Tiller on the Tiller Ranger District of the Umpqua National Forest, is now 12,406 acres and 65 percent contained.
