Fog & Black Ice On Black Friday

video preview image

High pressure remains in the area for most of the day which will allow widespread fog to return this morning with areas of dense and freezing fog. Freezing fog can cause frost to form on roadways and making them slick. A lot of people black Friday shopping this morning and road conditions are not optimal, so drive safely and watch for ice.

Another cold front is approaching the coast today which will bring showers to the coast and ridges late this afternoon and rain tomorrow. Rain will start to move inland on Saturday; the strongest portion of this front will pass north of our region so we won’t see heavy rain with this system and most areas east of the Cascades will stay dry all weekend long. High pressure returns next week and with it so does the fog, but even this is short lived as a stronger front moves through moves in late next week bringing heavier rain to the area and cooler temperatures by next weekend. There isn’t high confidence on the timing of this system and how far south it will go, so the amount of rain and how cold we will actually get is also in question.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a successful Black Friday, and will have a great weekend! Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for more weather and road condition updates.
