Flags at Half-Staff for Firefighter

Flags At Half-Staff Saturday For KellerSALEM, Ore. — On Saturday, flags across Oregon will be lowered to half-staff in honor of a White City firefighter who died while on assignment at a wildfire in Siskiyou County.

Oscar Montano-Garcia was working the Nabob Fire, just a few miles south of Applegate Lake. He died of a heart attack, according to his employer, Pacific Coast Contracting.

Governor Kitzhaber says Garcia was a crew foreman, with a long history of both working in and enjoying Oregon’s forests.
