High pressure will sit and expand over the West these next few days. Temperatures will climb as a result in the afternoon hours. Our first heat wave is officially underway — as the next three days are expected to be in the 90’s across the West Side. An offshore wind will bring highs into the 70’s and 80’s at the Coast both today and tomorrow, and records are likely to be broken.
Wednesday & Thursday will be the warmest days of the week for inland locations — records will be within reach for many areas. Some of these records are from decades ago! Skies will stay mostly sunny through this time period, with high cirrus clouds a common feature under this weather pattern.
Winds will turn onshore Thursday/Friday. This will keep clouds at the coast Thursday and then inland by Friday. A much cooler air mass will move in for the weekend and temperatures will then drop between 20 & 30 degrees. The first half of the weekend will be partly sunny with temperatures average — 60’s & 70’s. By Sunday, even the West Side will cool into the 60’s and showers will move in across Southern Oregon.
