MEDFORD, Ore. – With so many fires burning, smoke is traveling into the Rogue Valley and officials say they are monitoring that haze closely. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality says they have monitors across Southern Oregon that record the type of pollution in the air.
One sits in a neighborhood in south west Medford and this morning, produced normal levels all around with an advisory that smog was the highest pollutant in the air at that time. DEQ officials say the monitors are placed purposely in an area full of older houses with wood burning stoves, the greatest particulate producer.
