Fire Season To Begin for Coos Bay

Fire Season

COOS BAY, Ore. — Fire season in the Coos Bay area will officially begin July 1st. The Coos Forest Protective Association announced Friday that fire season will officially begin at midnight on Monday.

The start of fire season begins restrictions on both public and industrial forest use on all private, county, state and bureau of land management lands. This means the end of unregulated outside burning for rural Coos, Curry and Western Douglas County residents.

The outside burning of debris piles and the use of burn barrels will be prohibited until fire season is over.

There was a state wide Fire Season declared on June 3rd….why do some areas have a later date?

Also DFPA had declared a backyard burn ban in May. Only burns were allowed with permits after that. DFPA is Douglas Fire Protection Agency, Douglas County.
