This picture is actually on Brookside Blvd on the Monument Drive end

Mini storage noted. Truck came to a standstill at the Flaming Road intersection.

Truck bed was fully involved and whatever was in it burnt, they foamed it and it still had fire coming from the filler neck. Eventually, the tank melted and dumped burning fuel on the tarmac. This was well after the fire had been spread to the south side of Brookside and into the dry grass and brush.

      Is the animal shelter threatened?

      1. Sean says:

No, animal shelter’s just fine. The wind blows to the east quite powerfully here in the summer, so Ray’s Market is in the path by about 1/2 Mile. Just had another bomber drop.

Where is the fire at now?

      2. Sean says:

Most of the fire activity started from the Flaming Road intersection and moved into the center of this map.

Is Galice Road still blocked off? There must be a traffic problem.

Has the fire crossed Merlin Galice road yet?

We just got word from a neighbor that it had, and was going down the tracks near Plumtree. Way too close to our house – running out to get sprinklers going :)

      1. Meghan says:

No idea where our neighbor got the information that it had crossed the Merlin-Galice road, but we drove out to check about 10 minutes ago and there is no sign of fire near the tracks at Saratoga and Camp Joy, and also no sign of activity on the other side of Merlin-Galice road from where it started. If it did cross, it looks like it was extinguished immediately. Smoke at the heart of the fire is also much diminished from when we first saw it at 3:30 pm.

there was a 2nd fire down at metal shop (metal by sotar I think) in merlin about 5ish, they were sending crews there so merlin-galice was shut down for awhile too. Forest Dept chopper was up in air so fast and then saw tons of fire trucks, they were amazing!

Just goes to show – if your car catches on fire, leave it in the road. This is at least 2 fires started because they didn’t want to inconvenience other drivers.
