Fire Regulations Increase in Grants Pass

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Fire regulations are now increasing in Grants Pass to Industrial Fire Precaution Level 3, applying to commercial operators and effective Friday, August 2nd.

The Industrial Fire Precaution Level Officials strongly urge residents to use extreme caution when outdoors. All outdoor burning is prohibited with the exception of BBQ’s.

The following activities are prohibited starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2:

•Chainsaw use is prohibited.

•Mowing of dead or dry grass and weeds with power driven equipment is prohibited. Mowing of green lawns is permitted at any time, and this restriction does not apply to commercial agricultural purposes.

•Cutting, grinding or welding metal is prohibited

The use of other spark-emitting or internal combustion engine equipment and machinery such as generators, wood splitters and chippers is prohibited.

The following restrictions continue to be in effect throughout the City of Grants Pass:

•Outdoor Debris Burning is Prohibited.

•Fireworks are prohibited at all times, throughout the year within the City of Grants Pass.

•Sky Lanterns are prohibited at all times, throughout the year within the City of Grants Pass.

•Industrial Forest Operations – Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) goes to 3. Commercial operators on forest lands and throughout the city limits should visit the Medford Interagency Communications Center website for current information on IFPL levels.
