Fire Officials Keep Lookout Over Weekend

ODF Fire Spotters Take PositionsMEDFORD, Ore. — Despite thunderstorm activity across the region on Friday, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest only detected one fire, and it was contained at less than one tenth of an acre.

Officials with the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest says lightning strikes were mostly concentrated on the Siskiyou Mountains and High Cascades Ranger Districts.

Fire officials are remaining diligent throughout the weekend. They plan to have reconnaissance flights and fire lookouts to continue searching for sleeper fires.
