LANGLOIS, Ore. — Officials in Curry County are investigating a fire and a death at a home in Langlois on the Southern Oregon coast.
Last week, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a house on fire on the 94000 block of Alder Street in Langlois. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully engulfed structure fire. Inside the residence, the all-volunteer firefighters found a deceased woman. The woman has been identified as 64-year-old Bethany Ann Peck.
This week, officials now saw they have preliminary findings into the cause of the fire and the cause of death. The Curry County Sheriff’s Office says arson investigators have determined that the fire in the home appears to have been intentionally set.
Furthermore, an autopsy performed on Saturday confirmed that the Bethany Ann Peck suffered a gunshot wound to the head. It appears at this time that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Officials say the investigation remains open and they are still examining evidence.
