PHOENIX, Ore. — A fire is extinguished and crews are mopping up in the Phoenix area. Officials are currently unsure of the cause. Officials blocked off N. Phoenix Road during the fire.
The fire burned almost a half an acre. Fire crews had to cut down a tree with a chainsaw to stop the fire from spreading.
No structures were hit. Firefighters sprayed beauty bark with water in case hot embers flew over. Officials say fire probably started toward bottom of the onramp and moved up
Flames from the fire reached up to 60 feet. There may have been an impaired driver in a red pickup. Officials say the driver almost took out one of their fire officials who was redirecting traffic; the driver is being questioned.
