MEDFORD, Ore. — Two structures fires kept fire crews busy in the Rogue Valley on Sunday afternoon. The Medford Fire Department responded to a call around 1 p.m. about a fire just blocks away from one of their stations.
Table Rock Road was shut down as crews worked to put out the fire near the intersection of Midway and Table Rock Road. Four engines responded and quickly put out the fire, which was contained to the back of the bedroom. Fire officials say no one was inside the house at the time and the back bedroom appears to be a total loss.
“It was a pretty good fire for being right around the corner from our station. Our response time couldn’t have been more than two minutes from the initial call to us arriving on the scene,” said Medford Fire Captain Wayne Painter.
Later on Sunday afternoon, another fire was called in at a barn on Rolling Hills Drive in Eagle Point. The barn was said to be structurally sound; however, it is now a total loss. Interns assisted in the fire and Fire Districts 3 and 4 responded to the call. Both fires are under investigation and causes for both are still unknown.
