MEDFORD, Ore. — The Medford Fire Department’s long-time Chief Dave Bierwiler has announced his retirement.
The move came Friday after 23 years of service with the city. Bierwiler’s last day of employment with the city will be April 30th and city officials say he will be taking personal time off between now and then.
Gordon Sletmoe has been designated Acting Fire Chief and says the change will have no impact on day to day emergency services.
“We’ll see no downgrade at all in their level of service. We will continue to deliver the same level of service, in a high quality manor,” said Sletmoe.
A permanent successor to Bierwiler will be chosen through the normal selection process through the city.
