MEDFORD, Ore. — A fire destroys part of a home in Medford this morning, but firefighters are able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses.
The fire was contained to the backside of a home on Ivy Street just before 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Firefighters say no one was home at the time of the fire, and they say an 8-year-old child somehow caught the back part of the home on fire.
Investigators say the home is bunched together with other houses nearby, and there was a risk the fire could easily spread. But crews were able to keep the flames contained to the single house.
