Severe thunderstorms hit the Scott Valley of Northern California with over 1 to 2 inches in several locations. Heavy rain hit the Trinity Alps, Near Mt. Shasta and Yreka…but outside of the heavy rain, over 1000 lightning strikes hit the ground from the Klamath National Forest to the Siskiyou National Forest. Additional dry lightning strikes endued fires from last over Josephine and Douglas Counties.
Winds pushed several fires to over 500 acres and additional growth of fires from Northern California through Oregon is expected over the next day or two. Fortunately cooler and more humid air will arrive beginning Saturday and continuing all next week. The bad thing will be the wind that comes along with the cooler air.
