WASHINGTON, D.C. — Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber is asking Congress to save tens of thousands of jobs that are now at stake.
Kitzhaber joins the Governor of Iowa in leading the “Governor’s Wind Energy Coalition”, which represents 28 states that would be affected by the loss of a wind energy production tax credit. The wind energy industry employs 75,000 people and drives more than $10 billion a year in economic development.
The credit was first signed by George H.W. Bush. It was stalled in Congress this summer, by conservative House Republicans who argued it was wasteful spending.
