The feast was held on Friday night and started at 6 o’clock. The community dinner is hosted by the Ashland Lions Club. It was open to the public and people of all ages enjoyed a chicken dinner and were entertained with bagpipes and the Siskiyou Singers.
The Lions Club holds the dinner every year to celebrate the opening of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s outdoor theater for the summer.
“Total strangers sit down side by side and eat a meal together and have a chance to converse and share food together,” said Robert Miller with the Lions Club.
There was a fee to attend the dinner, and all proceeds will be used to fund organizations that the Lions Club supports.
