KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate a fatal crash that killed one woman intersection of Highway 138E and Highway 97 (Diamond Lake Junction) in Klamath County.
Police report on Wednesday at approximately 7:37 a.m. a 1999 Honda Civic driven by 31-year-old Alexander Pesek, was heading eastbound on Highway 138E and failed to stop at a stop sign posted at the intersection with Highway 97.
As the car drove through the stop sign, it was hit on the passenger’s side by a 2007 Freightliner tanker trunk pulling a tanker trailer, heading northbound. Police report the involved vehicles came to rest about 50 feet off the highway after impact.
Alexander Pesek was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls for treatment of minor injury. His sister, 25-year-old Mari Francis Pesek, was the right front passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck’s driver, 57-year-old Kenneth S. Brasser, was not injured. Brasser was driver for Home Run Transport out of Klamath Falls, and the tankers were empty. He was using safety restraints. OSP troopers from the Klamath Falls Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
