NEAR KERBY, Ore. — Oregon State Police, along with the Josephine County Major Crimes Team, are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of one man on Saturday.
OSP says around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, troopers and local emergency responders received a report of a shooting involving two neighboring property residents in the 23000 address block of Redwood Highway (Highway 199) in Kerby.
One of the persons involved in the dispute was identified as 59-year-old Leron Justin Estes was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center with a gunshot wound. He died after arriving at the hospital.
OSP says the preliminary investigation indicates Estes and a neighboring property resident, 64-year-old Donald Easley, were involved in an ongoing dispute. OSP says Easley fired at least one shot from a handgun at Estes, causing his death.
Oregon State Police say no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation continues with the involvement of the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.
