GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Grants Pass Police are investigating a fatal auto accident that they say may be alcohol related.
The accident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning. Police say they were called to the corner of Redwood Ave and Kellenbeck Ave where a pickup truck had hit a pedestrian. That pedestrian, 31-year old Nathaniel Pike, was pronounced dead on the spot.
The driver, 54-year old Steve McClun, was found unconscious and trapped inside the truck. Police say that alcohol was likely involved, but declined to say whether it was the driver or the pedestrian.
“We’re still piecing together all of the evidence and statements from witnesses, and still talking to the driver about that,” said Grants Pass Police Detective,
Sgt. Dan Evans.
The driver is currently in the hospital, where he is reportedly in stable condition. No charges have been filed.
