MEDFORD, Ore. – A program that helps families with very young children will be getting a new home and a new focus.
The Healthy Start Program will now be run by the Family Nurturing Center after being operated by La Clinica for more than a decade. The transition will happen on Oct. 1.
La Clinica officials said the state had shifted the direction of the Healthy Start Program to an education-based focus last year. They said because La Clinica does not have the resources for an education-only program, they opted to transfer control to the Family Nurturing Center, which has worked collaboratively with La Clinica on programs in the past.
The Healthy Start Program used home visitors to help families with young children find access to nutrition information, healthcare, and early childhood education.
