Family of Fatal Crash Victim Speaks Out

hit and run victimCAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — A driver responsible for hitting and killing two Josephine County men is still on the run.

Back in October, a driver hit Jared Houston and his friend, killing both of them. Houston’s mother says there doesn’t seem to be any movement in the case and she says OSP admits their resources are strained.

After budget cuts with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, OSP began handling the most serious crimes in the county. Houston’s death is just one of several unsolved homicides in Cave Junction.

“We’re going to go to the higher power, we’re going to go to the state representatives, and we’re going to ask them for help. I can’t rest till I can put my son to rest,” said Laurie Houston.

As for the car involved in Houston’s death, troopers are looking for a beige 1980’s style Toyota pickup truck with a camper shell with possible front-end damage.
