FAA Bans Flights Over Iraqi Airspace

cnn airline(CNN) — The Federal Aviation Administration is banning U.S. Airlines from flying over Iraqi airspace. The FAA issued the notice Friday and said it comes because of the “hazardous situation created by the armed conflict” in Iraq.

This comes just as the United States resumes airstrikes in Iraq. President Barack Obama previously pulled most American forces out of Iraq in 2011. The ban will be re-evaluated December 31st.

In July a commercial Malaysia Airlines flight crashed while flying over Eastern Ukraine. The United States said a surface to air missile brought down the plane.
