MEDFORD, Ore. — Friday night police seized nearly 2,000 illegal fireworks and handed out dozens of citations in Medford. Officer say, unfortunately, those kinds of incidents on the 4th of July are to be expected. What’s not expected is for someone to set off a firework attached to a paint container on top of a patrol car parked next to the police station.

Police say that’s what happened near 10th and Ivy about 3 a.m. on July 5th.

The blast apparently rattled the folks inside City Hall. “Pretty, pretty bold. Pretty brazen,” said Sergeant DJ Graham.

Investigators will sift through surveillance video on Monday to try and get a suspect description. Until then, if you have any information call the Medford Police Department at (541) 774-2250.

“Needless to say, we would very much like to figure out who did this one. If you know anything, let us know,” the police department wrote in a Facebook post┬áSaturday┬ámorning.
