SALEM, Ore. – Oregon’s timber industry is expected to get a boost. Governor Kitzhaber signed an executive order Monday that should promote the state’s wood products.
The order calls for the development of innovative uses for wood products. The governor also wants put those practices to use in new government construction. The Department of Forestry will also work with public and private agencies to make sure products coming from the state are as sustainable as possible.
Kitzhaber also promised to work with county, industry, and environmental leaders to come up with a proposal for congress concerning the O&C payments; that proposal is expected to be ready sometime early next year.
