Evacuations Expand on Happy Camp Complex

happy camp fire[UPDATE 1:30 P.M.] Mandatory evacuations are in place for Scott River Rd. from Bridge Flat to the intersection of HWY 96, all areas south of HWY 96 between Scott River Rd. and Grider Creek and all areas south of HWY 96 from Seiad Valley down river to Cade Summit.

An evacuation advisory is in place for all areas north of HWY 96 between Scott River Rd. and Grider Creek, all areas to the north and south of Scott River Rd. from Bridge Flat east to Joyland Gulch, and all areas to the north of HWY 96 from Seiad Creek Rd. west of Cade Summit.

A shelter has been established by the Office of Emergency Services, at Winema Hall, Siskiyou County Fairgrounds,Yreka. Domestic pets will be allowed at the shelter. If you are in need of assistance with livestock please contact Sheriff’s Dispatch at 841-2900.

HAPPY CAMP, Ore. — The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s office announced additional mandatory evacuations late Thursday night.

Mandatory evacuations apply to Walker Creek Road, Grider Creek Road, China Grade Road, and residences on Seiad Creek Road approximately 2 miles from Highway 96. This order also applies to residences on the northern side of Highway 96 from Seiad Creek Road to Scott River Road.   All residences on the southern side of Highway 96 from Seiad Valley to Cade Mountain Summit are under an advisory evacuation notice.

Sheriff’s Deputies along with the United States Forest Service (USFS) are going door to door to notifying residents that they must evacuate the area. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department will be patrolling 24 hours in the evacuated areas. At this time there is no word do not know how long the evacuations will last, as soon as it is safe for residents to return to their homes notices will be given.
