EUGENE, Ore. — There was a heavy police presence on Cal Young Road in Eugene Saturday afternoon after officers received a call of a gunshot wound, but officials were quickly recalled from the scene.
Eugene Police closed down Cal Young between Gilham and Norkenzie at first, but reopened the road after finding out the call was a possible hoax.
Eugene Police says although they can’t confirm whether or not it was a hoax, they didn’t locate a suspect or a valid location as described in the call that came in around 11:30 a.m.
Police say they take all calls seriously and that’s why they sent a large team to investigate. Once they determined the location wasn’t valid and deemed the scene safe, they withdrew all units.
Police are still investigating but they don’t believe there is any danger.
