According to Bureau of Reclamation Statistics, water volume is less than half of where it was last year at this time. Last year the lake measured 19,310 acre-feet, versus 8,610 this year.
Total precipitation is also lower than any time since the start of the millennium, at 1.18 inches.
Officials with the park say the lack of water will undoubtedly have an impact on recreation there.
They also say rain and snowfall can vary quite a bit. And it isn’t unusual to see a dry year turn around later in the season.
