MEDFORD, Ore. — Local first responders and medical professionals are wrapping up day two of the State of Jefferson EMS Conference.
The conference is a training program to practice skills and get up-to-date with the latest in emergency care. Members of Medford Fire, nurses, and EMT’s went through simulations using realistic dummies that breathe, display a pulse, and even talk.
It wasn’t just an opportunity to brush up on skills, it also counts toward training requirements needed for emergency care workers to keep their certification.
“The alternate prior to starting this conference was really to travel two to three hundred miles, going to Salem, Portland, Bend, Sacramento, to obtain that ongoing EMS education,” said Dr. Paul Rostykus, Medical Director of the local EMS Committee.
The conference hosted emergency care professionals from across much of Oregon and Southern California.
