Emergency Alert Sign-Up Encouraged

Medford, Ore. — In case of an emergency, like evacuations because of fires, the Jackson County Citizen Alert can send out emergency alerts to make sure you know what’s happening around you.

Time-sensitive information can be sent out to you during any type of emergency event, including wildfire evacuations, hazardous materials accidents or even a fugitive in your area.

However, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the county only receives landline phone information.  That means if you only use a cell phone, you will not get emergency alerts.  That’s why the sheriff’s office is urging you to sign up for the citizen alert system online.  You can do that by heading here.

    Says the page is an error.
    Would be nice to know how to get this so we don’t have to keep calling in & clogging lines needed for real emergencies.
