Elementary Schools to Consolidate

WHITE CITY, Ore. — Mountain View Elementary and White City Elementary will become Table Rock Elementary this fall. The two campuses are close together. In fact, they already share a playground. The current students helped pick out the new name.

The current White City Elementary will house the kindergarten through second grade. The current Mountain View Elementary will house third through fifth.

The move is meant to balance class sizes. “Instead of having two classrooms here and three over there we’re going to have five that we can spread our kids into so they will be more balanced,” said Mountain View Principal Karina Rizo.

A new fence will surround the new school, there will be a new paint job and some other remodeling projects to make it more unified. The school district business manager estimates the total cost at $200,000-$300,000.
