MEDFORD, Ore. – A suspicious, early morning fire sent police searching for a possible arson suspect near S. Fir St.  and Melrose Ave.

The fire broke out around 3:30 A.M. Large flames got close to a building, but fire crews were able to keep it from catching fire.

At one point, it appeared police officers were pulling people over to question them.

Flames were so big,  smoke could be seen from Interstate 5, witnesses said.

At this time, investigators do not know the cause of this fire, but they say it does fit the pattern of recent suspicious fires in Medford that began on June 25th.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Medford Police.
