Early Childhood Education Grant

SALEM, ORe. — Oregon is getting $20 million from the Obama administration to improve early-childhood education.

Governor Kitzhaber’s office announced the grant on Thursday, which will be used to improve training for pre-school teachers and to make sure program used to prepare children for kindergarten are effective.

Oregon is one of five states getting the grant this year, as part of the federal Race To The Top Early Learning Challenge run by the U.S. Department of Education and Health and Human Services.
