TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif–A training exercise claimed the life of a young man from Eagle Point. The US Marines confirmed they lost one man and four others were injured during an accident east of Palm Springs. While the Marines haven’t released the names, family and close friends have confirmed the man killed is Corporal Nick Sell. The 21-year-old is from Eagle Point and was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Sell was participating in a training exercise at The Marine Corp Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palm. Camp Pendleton says Sell was inside a tank when it caught fire during the training. According to family and fellow officers, Sell was deployed to Afghanistan last year where he served for 7 months. Four other Marines were injured during the training exercise. The accident is under investigation.
