Ducks Carry Big 2nd Half to Victory

BERKELEY, CA. – Coming off their hard-fought win over USC, the Ducks were in Northern California to take on the California Golden Bears. The Ducks offense didn’t take long put points up as Marcus Mariota hit Colt Lyerla for a 10-yard touchdown less than five minutes into the game. A quick response by Cal tied the game in the opening quarter.

Then the injury bug caught up with the Ducks. First, Avery Patterson left with a non-contact leg injury. Then, Kenjon Barner exited with a hand injury. Mariota was next injuring his non-throwing shoulder. Mariota and Barner would return, but Patterson’s status moving forward is unclear.

Despite the hardships, Oregon used a 35 point outburst in the 2nd half to upend the Bears 59-17. The Ducks will likely move up in the BCS Standings thanks to an Alabama’s afternoon loss to Texas A&M. The Ducks will host Stanford next week.
