Ducks, Beavers Headed to NCAA Tournament

Despite being swept by Oregon St. over the weekend, the Oregon Ducks still earned the fifth overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Baseball Tournament. That means if the Ducks advance past the Regional round, they will be at home for Super Regionals. Oregon will open up the post-season on Friday, against Austin Peay, the number four seed in the region. The other two teams making the trip to Eugene are Indiana St. and Cal State Fullerton. Ducks’ head coach George Horton spend 11 years as the skipper of CS Fullerton, winning the National Championship with the Titans in 2004.

Oregon St. likely gave its tournament resume a boost with its three wins over Oregon. The Beavers are the number two seed in the Baton Rogue Regional. OSU’s first game is against Belmont, while top seeded LSU plays Louisiana-Monroe. Each Regional Tournament is played under double-elimination rules. The survivor from each region advances to the Super Regional Round, starting the weekend of June 8th.
