Drug Involvement Warnings for Parents

drugsGRANTS PASS, Ore. — More than one hundred community members attended a presentation at Fleming Middle School in Merlin on Friday morning, all in an effort to spread awareness of signs of drug and alcohol use.

School personnel, members of law enforcement and members of the community were among the 150 people on hand to listen to the four hour presentation. A variety of things were discussed including current trends with marijuana, including drug concealers such as waxes and oils.

Members of law enforcement who presented said there are new ways to hide, conceal or smoke drugs coming out all the time and the most important thing a parent can do is to be aware of what’s around them.

“Know what’s being promoted, know what’s being sold, know what’s being glorified, know what’s going on in your local community because that’s the stuff that kids are exposed to every day and that’s the stuff you’re exposed to everyday,” said Officer Jermaine Galloway with Idaho Law Enforcement.

Event officials said one thing many in attendance weren’t aware of certain energy drinks containing high amounts of alcohol.
