MEDFORD, Ore. — Two pedestrians were hospitalized and one man was jailed after a motor vehicle collision Columbus Avenue and Prune Street on Saturday night.
Medford Police said the driver of the vehicle had been traveling north on Columbus and had struck the two pedestrians as they were walking across Columbus at Prune. The two victims were transported to the hospital due to their significant injuries. Both victims are reported to be in stable condition at this time.
The driver, 32-year-old Benjamin Grant Thurman, was transported to the Medford Police Department where field sobriety tests were conducted. Police report Thurman was found to be impaired. Police report Thurman was lodged at Jackson County Jail on multiple charges of assault, driving under the influence and reckless driving. His bail was set at $57,000.
Medford Police say the intersection of Columbus and Prune was shut down for an extended period of time while members of the Medford Police Department Traffic Team documented the accident scene.
