Drifters Show Skills on Race Track

By Sharon Ko

MEDFORD, Ore. — Drivers are hitting the tracks and showing off their skills at full speed. The week-long Medford Cruise event is showcasing drifters at the Jackson County Sports Park.

Drifting is a technique where drivers purposely over steer and maneuver around the road at a high speed. Organizers say there will be amateur and professional drivers who have drifted across the world at the event.

“It’s a great thing for the local kids to get out and do. I mean, drifting you don’t have to have that much money to do, with racing you have to have a lot of money to do,” says drifter Matthew Coffman.

“This is a really great benefit not only to local youth charities from the Medford Cruise, but also gives a safe place for kids who are going to do it anyway a safe place to do it,” says Vice President of Medford Cruise Association Corey Harris.

The drivers can give you a ride on the tracks for ten bucks. The All Sports Car Show and Shine is going on till 7 p.m. featuring high performance cars.
