MEDFORD, Ore. — Doughnut, dads, students and books all came together Tuesday morning at Roosevelt Elementary for the annual Doughnuts with Dads Day.
Fathers got the chance to sit down with their kids, eat a delicious doughnut and read a book aloud. The Department of Education says reading aloud to your child is the best thing you can do for their education.
One student NewsWatch12 spoke with also says she feels reading aloud is important and will help her throughout school and into adulthood.
“When you grow up, all the careers that there are, you’re going to have to read aloud…like cash register person.. You’re going to have to give them their total and everything like there are so many different careers where you are going to have to read aloud,” said student Kendyl Mazzella.
The school says Doughnuts with Dad’s is one of their largest school events bringing out nearly 200 dads.
