Domestic Disputes Rise During Holidays

KNUTSENGOLD HILL, Ore. — Jackson County Sheriff deputies surrounded a home after they received calls about an armed man inside.

50-year-old Timothy Knutsen was inside the home with a rifle and a woman he lived with was hiding in the bathroom. Deputies were able to get her out safely and eventually, Knutsen was arrested.

Community Works, an organization helping victims of abuse, says domestic violence incidents like this,  happen year round. But the number of incidents like it increases during the holiday season because of the added emotional and financial stress.

The Medford Police Department has seen domestic violence incidents rise every year in the city, since 2009.
